Clinton Banbury

Enamel

Original enamel wall panels by Janine Partington,
Original enamel 'shoals of fish' hangings by Lewis Banks.

"Inspired by nature and the sea, this sculptural piece consists of a shoal of separate fish,
each individually handmade, created by multiple sequential firings of transparent and
opaque glass enamels on copper, resulting in striking colour textures..."

Unusual 'tide clocks' (for surfers!) in enamel by Lewis Banks

Photographic art

Framed pictures by Mike Millward, instantly recognisable as being of St Ives rooftops - lichen and all.

Glass

Kiln-formed, handmade sculptural glass wall-hangings, imitating the flow of the waves of the sea by
Hamlin & Wright

"Each piece is individually made and unique.   Using the inherent characteristics of glass - its potential fluidity, fragility, colour, reflectivity and movement - we then layer the glass to provide texture, colour and depth.   We use the heating process, and holding the work at various temperatures to control the movement.   Our inspiration is drawn essentially from water in all its forms and all its states.
Perfect for St Ives!   Using a marine palette, our work creates a visual reference that captures the constant momentum found on our shorelines and riverbanks.   Natural art such as this is a source of stimulation, inspiration and contemplation."

Sculptured glass and metal artwork by prize-winning Emmy-Gai Palmer
"I create intriguing blown glass forms with knitted wire inclusions designed to draw your gaze into the form. I try to capture images of the sea's movement and its effect on the things around it, such as the translucent hues of the seaweed caught up in waves and light through the water..."

Hand-blown glass vases and paperweights by Potter Morgan Glass
"Renowned for quality of craftsmanship, every piece of Potter Morgan glass is completely hand-blown, uniquely designed and individually signed by the artist.
Their range of 'Avebury Stone' is inspired by the ancient standing stones of Avebury in Wiltshire; this range conveys the simple quiet energy of the actual stones themselves.   Entirely made from glass, they have a strong tranquillity and reflect calmness and serenity as well as a meditative presence."

Handmade glass tiles and coasters in sumptious colours by Jodie Bishop

Slate clock

Simple, contemporary designs in reclaimed slate, made into clocks and mirrors of different shapes and sizes, by Pacha Design

"The word Pacha, meaning green/pure, was chosen to represent our eco-friendly attitude and passion for using materials often seen as waste.   The materials are chosen for their imperfections, wood with knots and cracks, and weathered and discoloured slate that has been protecting the roofs of local buildings from the elements for centuries.   Inspired by the natural state of decay and rawness, we use the materials to produce pieces with clean lines and a modern feel."

Bespoke pieces of exquisite craftsmanship in oak, ash, elm, yew, sycamore and walnut by local furniture designer Scott Woyka.
Among the current items on display are some limited-edition heart-shaped boxes, each individually handmade from a single block of hardwood. There are also some smaller items such as chopping boards and photomounts

The 'Sundowner' chair, handmade by Scott in elm, cherry, ash, sycamore and fumed oak, is a sculptural masterpiece and a perfect example of his workmanship:

"This chair has been enormously popular among the visitors, tempted as they are to try it for size.   Watching them melt as they sit down is rather gratifying, and they are normally very surprised at the comfort.   The chair was hired by Channel 4 some time ago for a drama series, and has been sat in by Prince Charles on one of his visits to Cornwall.   It is a chair in which to sit and ponder, and watch the sun go down."

There are also other examples of unusual achievement in wood by Sixixis, with steam-bent strips of Cornish ash transformed into pot-plant holders.
